The function was chaired by Hon\u2019ble Justice (Retd) V.C. Bhadang, President, Income-tax Appellate Tribunal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hon\u2019ble Justice (Retd) S.C. Dharamadikari, Former Judge Bombay High Court was the Chief Guest. Guest of Honour, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Pr. CIT Mumbai, Shri Porus Kaka, Senior Advocate, President ITAT and Shri R.S. Adukia, CCM &#8211; ICAI.<\/p>\n<p>Honourable Member of the ITAT, Mr Amit Shukla was the master of the ceremony. The foundation day function was started with the Lighting of the lamp by the Chief guest and Ganesh Vandana by staff members of the ITAT.<\/p>\n<p>Hon\u2019ble Justice (Retd) V.C. Bhadang, President, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal in his introductory speech stated that potential challenges cannot be underestimated.\u00a0Speaking on the occasion Shri Sanjay Kumar Pr. CIT Mumbai, congratulate the Hon\u2019ble President of the ITAT for involving all stakeholders in the Foundation Day celebration. He emphasised that many procedural requirements can be dispensed with.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Shri Porus Kaka, Senior Advocate, President ITAT highlighted the Contribution of the ITAT Bar Association Mumbai and also strongly objected to the proposed Scheme of disposal of appeals by the appellate Tribunal, eliminating the interface between the Appellate Tribunal and parties to the appeal in the course of appellate proceedings (faceless Appellate Tribunal). Mr. Porus Kaka congratulated the ITAT for quality judgement delivered on various International Taxation which is recognized and appreciated by International Tax experts across the globe.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Shri R.S. Adukia, CCM, ICAI, praised the role played by the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal and wished that the ITAT should remain one of the best tribunals in the Country.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Hon\u2019ble Justice (Retd) S.C. Dharamadikari, Former Judge Bombay High Court was the Chief Guest who spoke on the theme of <a href=\"https:\/\/itatonline.org\/digest\/articles\/role-of-itat-in-contemporary-times-and-the-way-forward-honble-justice-retd-s-c-s-c-dharmadhikari-former-judge-bombay-high-court\/\"><strong>\u201cRole of ITAT in contemporary times and the way forward\u201d <\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hon\u2019ble Justice started his speech by stating that the Mumbai Tax Bar is one of the Best Tax Bar in our Country. Hon\u2019ble Chief Guest emphasized that the Judiciary (ITAT) is not \u00a0an arm of the Government. It is an independent autonomous judicial body. Members of the ITAT have the divine duty of rendering justice. The approach should be judicious. Tax Bar and Tax practitioners must be conversant with general law. Constitution law should be always in the mind of the Tribunal members and representatives, referred <strong>1992 2 SCC 643 Srinivasa Theatre v. State of Tamil Nadu<\/strong>: Article 14 , \u00a038 and 265 \u00a0of the Constitution of India and discussed legitimate expectation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Honourable Judge strongly opposed the proposed amendment of the Justice delivery system of the ITAT in a faceless manner as it may not serve the desired mandate of the Constitution of India. The ITAT being a judicial forum, hearing the appeals eliminating the interface between the Appellate Tribunal and the parties in a faceless manner cannot be considered as an opportunity to be heard.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On the said occasion retired Past President of the ITAT, Vice -President and honourable are honoured with the presenting a shawl and flower by the Chief guest and Honourable President of the ITAT.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Shri G.
