Dismissing the Special Leave Petition filed by the assessee, the Supreme Court upheld the order passed under section 127 transferring the assessee\u2019s case from Vadodara to Pune for the purpose of centralised and coordinated investigation. The Court noted that the transfer was based on significant suspicious cash transactions between the assessee and an entity assessed at Pune, which the assessee had not denied. It was further observed that the impugned show cause notice and subsequent transfer order were issued in continuation of the earlier transfer order to comply with the statutory requirement of granting an opportunity of hearing and could not be quashed merely on the ground that they were styled as corrigendum. The Court held that the assessee\u2019s failure to respond to the notice and the absence of any denial of the underlying transactions justified the transfer.
