The appointment is for a period of three years or till her attaining the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier. <\/p>\n<p>The appointment is under the new &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itatonline.org\/info\/new-itat-members-to-get-3x-salary-hike-to-rs-250000-per-month\/\">Tribunal, Appellate Tribunal and other Authorities (Qualifications, Experience and other Conditions of Service of Members) Rules, 2017<\/a>&#8221; under which ITAT Members are entitled to receive a monthly salary of Rs. 2,25,000 per month. <\/p>\n<p>It may be recalled that the said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itatonline.org\/info\/supreme-court-to-examine-validity-of-the-tribunal-members-rules-2017\/\">Rules are presently under challenge<\/a> in the Supreme Court and various High Courts. <\/p>\n<p>Ms. Madhumita Roy had earlier been found ineligible by the ACC for appointment as a Member of the ITAT on the ground that she did not submit the income tax return for the year 2010-2011. The same was confirmed by the CAT. However, the Calcutta High Court held that this finding was erroneous.
