COURSE ON PRACTICAL INCOME TAX AND LITIGATION
Introduction
The Student Committee of the Chamber of Tax Consultants, in collaboration with the Government Law College, Mumbai, successfully launched a two-month certificate course titled “Practical Income Tax and Litigation” on 2nd August, 2024. This course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of income tax laws and practical skills for handling tax litigation. The course is being conducted in virtual mode, with an inaugural ceremony and a panel discussion held in hybrid mode at the auditorium of the Government Law College, Mumbai.
Inaugural Ceremony and Panel Discussion
The inauguration ceremony, held on 2nd August 2024, was marked by a panel discussion featuring esteemed personalities in the field of taxation and law.
The event was hosted by CA Akbar Merchant, Past President and member of the Student Committee, who also serves as a faculty member for the course.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Asmita Vaidya, Principal of Government Law College. CA Vijay Bhatt, President of CTC, provided an overview of the Chamber’s activities and welcomed all participants. Mrs. Niyati Mankad (Adv.), Chairperson of the Student Committee of CTC, then spoke about the course and the Student Committee’s initiatives. This was followed by the panel discussion. - Dr. K. Shivaram, Senior Advocate
- CA Jayant Gokhale, Past President of the Chamber of Tax Consultants
The discussion was moderated by Mr. K. Gopal, Advocate.
This panel discussion provided participants with a deep understanding of key income tax concepts, practical application strategies, and insights into career opportunities within the taxation field. The session emphasized the importance of staying abreast of tax laws, avoiding common filing errors, and effectively navigating complex legislation. Additionally, the discussion highlighted the role of technology in tax administration, the importance of ethical considerations, and emerging trends such as digital taxation.
