The assessee has paid tax arrears as determined by the Designated Authority and intimated via Form 3. However, the assessee failed to file Form 4. Till date he has not filed the Form 4. Is there any way to file the form now. Or what will be the consequence of not filing the form

Answer given by

The assesseee should try to file the form .In case the portal is not accepting the form , the assessee may send the Form 4 , by speed post or registered post . The assesseee may also write to the CBDT to condone the delay in filing the Form No. 4 . In case no response is received from the Revenue Authorities within reasonable time , the assessee may file the writ before the High Court . The issue being technical default , the High Court may direct the Designated Authority to condone the delay and issue the certificate .
