A Tax judge, a Jurist and a Visionary – The Tax Bar’s best wishes

Hon’ble Chief Justice Dr. D.Y. Chandrachud is a great visionary, crusader of Justice and a champion of the Constitution. Lordship will make a sincere attempt to reduce the pendency of tax matters which are pending before Hon’ble Supreme Court and various High Courts. Hon’ble Justice Dr. D.Y. Chandrachud always believed that it is the law students who will be the guardian of our democracy and b more women judges are required to be appointed in the judiciary.

Lordship as the Chairman of the Supreme Court E-Court committee made it possible hear the cases and also for live streaming of Court proceedings during the pandemic.

On December 22, 2004, as a judge of the Bombay High Court, his Lordship had addressed the members of the ITAT Bar Association, All India Federation of Tax Practitioners and students of the Government Law college at Court Room No1 of the ITAT Mumbai on the subject of International Commercial Arbitration.

Lordship used to take a keen interest in the various moot courts organized by the various colleges. Lordship has judged the Final moot Court competition of 8th Nani Palkhivala Memorial Moot Court Competition which was held on October 15, 2011 at Mumbai.

Hon’ble Chief Justice Dr. D.Y. Chandrachud as a senior Judge of Bombay High Court had inaugurated the All India Members Residential Refresher Course on August 11, 2012 at Judicial Academy at Bhayender. As an Additional Solicitor General appeared before the ITAT on behalf of Revenue and was well conversant with the functioning of the ITAT 

Hon’ble Chief Justice Dr. D.Y. Chandrachud is a very popular judge and has delivered many land mark judgements.
