Requirement of Advocates for empanelment as Junior Standing Counsels and Senior Standing Counsels to represent the Department before the Hon’ble High Court of Madras.

The Income Tax Department, Chennai would like to prepare two separate panels of Junior Standing Counsels and Senior Standing Counsels for representing its cases before the Hon’ble Madras High Court. Practising advocates as well as the retired officers of the Income Tax Department with Law degree are eligible for empanelment. The qualification, schedule of fees and allowances and the proforma application in which the application has to be made, have been prescribed by the Central Board of Direct Taxes, New Delhi vide its Instruction No.8/2007 dated 30.08.2007, a copy of which can be obtained from the Income Tax Officer (HQrs)(Judicial), RoomNo.323, Main Building, 3rd Floor, No.121,Nungambakkam High Road, Chennai-34 (Ph. No.044 28338376/ 28338076, Mobile No.9445953100). A copy of the same can also be downloaded from the Websites at www.incometaxindia.gov.in and irsofficersonline.gov.in. Eligible applicants may send their applications in duplicate so as to reach the office of the Income Tax Officer(HQrs)(Judicial) on or before 30.11.2011.
