Hon’ble Justice (Retd) Dev Darshan Sud was given a warm farewell on the occasion of his retirement from the post of Hon’ble President of the ITAT. The Government has appointed a new President in an officiating capacity.
Hon’ble Justice (Retd) Dev Darshan Sud retired from the post of President of the ITAT on 17th February 2017.
To mark the occasion, the ITAT organized a Full Court farewell function on 17th February 2017.
The function was attended by the present and former Members of the ITAT, Advocates, Chartered accountants and Departmental Representatives.
Amongst the dignitaries present were Vice-Presidents Hon’ble Shri. G. D. Agarwal and Hon’ble Shri D. Manmohan, Ms. Arati Vissanji, President of the ITAT Bar Association, Shri. Nilesh Vikamshey, President of the ICAI, Ms. Malathi Sridharan, CIT-DR, and other eminent Advocates and Chartered Accountants.

Appointment of new President in officiating capacity
The Government has appointed Hon’ble Shri G.D. Agrawal, Vice President, to take charge as the officiating President of the ITAT.
Hon’ble Shri G.D. Agrawal is a Chartered Accountant (FCA). He was in practice for about 15 years before being elevated to the Bench in May 1994.

The learned officiating President has rich experience in matters relating to the administration of the ITAT.
We wish Hon’ble Shri. G. D. Agarwal good luck in his new responsibility.

Heartiest congratulations to Shri G.D. Agarwal on taking over the charge of President ITAT. I had interaction with him when I was at Kolkata as in charge of ITAT matters from income tax department and was impressed by his pragmatic outlook in dealing with matters and communicating with us in regular meetings. Wish him the best.
