We are pleased to report that Hon’ble Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar has been appointed Acting Chief Justice of the Punjab & Harayana High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.
Justice Vazifdar was sworn in as Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on 22.01.2001. At the time of his appointment, he had a roaring practice in civil, constitutional, company and arbitration matters.
Justice Vazifdar is a very popular judge. He has an extremely pleasant personality and is very open minded. The learned judge is very patient and goes out of his way to encourage junior advocates.
However, at the same time, the learned judge makes it clear that he expects counsel for both sides to be thoroughly prepared when appearing in his court. One can also see a high level of thoroughness in the way Justice Vazifdar conducts the Court. His judgements are well researched and written in a simple and easy-to-understand style.
Justice Vazifdar has mastered the complicated subject of income-tax. He is party to several landmark judgements such as CIT vs. Pruthvi Brokers & Shareholders 349 ITR 336, Sahara Hospitality Ltd vs. CIT 352 ITR 38, CIT vs. CA Computer Associates 351 ITR 69 etc. He has also delivered the landmark judgement on transfer pricing law (Vodafone India Service vs. UOI 37 taxmann.com 250).
We are confident that Acting Chief Justice S. J. Vazifdar will rise to further heights in the judiciary and we wish him good luck in his new responsibility.

Recently have appeared before justice S J Vazifdar in Punjab & Haryana High Court. I m very much inspired and spell bound by his lordship’s soft spokenness and wisdom.
May the young energetic new Hon’ble CJ of P&H be concerned about old pending sine die matters like CAPP-11/2000, relating to suffering Senior Citizens, who feel frustrated by the present style of forgotten matters and the PSB litigant enjoying luxury of litigation since 1988 after getting easy STAY of three Eviction Orders already passed in the same matter by the same Hon’ble High Court in the case of HIGH COURT ordered Auction of NPA to satisfy ex-parte Decree in favour of the PSB to add to the agony, haplessness of suppressed Auction Purchaser and the State Bank continuing to enjoy auctioned property without any proper arrangement for such occupation for commercial gains;

yea i agree, jus Vazifdar had been a good judge i saw him since 2001 he was appointed in Bombay high court till 2012 or so he is a sweet tempered person and yes works very hard by due research on the cases when one sees his questions he raises during arguments.
yes he got a deserving position at P&H high court.
