Central Board of Direct TaxesPRESS RELEASE
26th September, 2013
It has come to the notice of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) that many assessees who are required to file their income tax returns by September 30, 2013 are finding it difficult to upload the report of Audit electronically as prescribed under the proviso to sub-rule (2) of Rule 12 of the IT Rules for the Assessment Year 2013-14. Therefore, the CBDT has decided to extend the time for furnishing the report of Audit electronically till October 31, 2013. However, the assessees are required to file the report of Audit manually with the jurisdictional Assessing Officer by the prescribed due date, i.e. September 30, 2013. The assessees are also required to file their returns of income electronically by the prescribed due date, i.e. September 30, 2013.

Due to slowdown of software we could not upload about 15 TAR on the close of deadline.I would like to invite others comment on this.I would like to know line of action in case penalty proceedings are initiated.Pl. enlighten.
it is better to file physically all the retruns as per old policy ,why govt is inviting tension in the business community anf Financial consultants. when Guajrat is facing havey to heavy rails why request are not honoured
Sir pls extensiob the date 31/10/2013
Please extended the date 31-10-2013
It is absolutely rediculous on the part of CBDT who has issued this purpose less circuler and shameful on the part of the Council which has not protested for this. Also the local Chamber of Commerce on the advice of CAs shoul take this matter to FM for a meaningfull extension of time.
The press release seems to be contradicting the circular issued by the CBDT today morning. How?
What is the need to file physical copy. Is it to be done in the new format or the old format? If done physically, where is the need to e file ? FM probably wants more paper to generate more income out of WPaper sales
Unfortunately our CA fraternity is not effective like Lawyers lobby.Otherwise,Govt.would pay heed to our problems .
Classic example of cunningness & mean mentality.
govt should accept their fault.
Playing around with the systems at the 11th hour is totally unfair & irresponsible. The systems should have been properly in place months ago. The CBDT must realise that we are Chartered Accountants, not Computer Jockeys. At this rate only IIT grads will be able to file Returns of Income.
The press releas is the cause of confusion to the entire fraternity of practicing chartered accountants.

The press release dated 26th September, 2013 after the issue of the circular of even date regarding tax audit/ return filing has caused more confusion to the entire fraternity of practicing chartered accountants.
Agree with Avinash . The circular is an insult of CA family.Alll should protest.
Mockery after mockery,,,well done,no consideration for time wasted on working on cumbersome software of Govt.,very shameful.
