The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal Bar Association has issued a letter dated 4th June 2019 stating that a Disciplinary Committee comprising of five Advocates has been constituted to examine complaints of violations of the Code Of Conduct by members of the Bar. The identity of the informant/ complainant will not be revealed
The letter reads as follows:
“CONSTITUTION OF DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE
The Managing Committee of our Bar Association has constituted a Disciplinary Committee comprising of the following 5 members:
1. Mr. S. E. Dastur, Chairman
2. Dr. K. Shivaram
3. Mr. Percy J. Pardiwalla
4. Mrs. Arati Vissanji
5. Mr. Hiro Rai
Any person can furnish information or a complaint against any Member of our Bar Association, if the conduct of such Member violates the Code of Conduct (copy attached) adopted by our Bar Association.
Any information/complaint in respect of any such violation can be sent in a sealed envelope addressed to the Disciplinary Committee.
For this purpose, a Complaint Box is placed at ITAT Bar Association Library, Room No. 445, 4th Floor, Pratishtha Bhawan, Old C. G. O. Building, 101, M. K. Marg, Mumbai-400020.
The name and contact details of the informant/complainant need not be given on the envelope though the same should be communicated alongwith the information/complaint.
The information/complaint can also be sent by email to dcitatbarassn@gmail.com alongwith the name and contact details. Unless the informant/complainant agrees, the Disciplinary Committee shall not reveal his identity.
The Disciplinary Committee shall have the power to regulate its own procedure and to recommend such action as it deems fit. If the Disciplinary Committee finds that the Member has violated the Code of Conduct, it shall forward its report to the Managing Committee of the Association for necessary action. The Managing Committee may take such action as it deems fit including expulsion of the concerned Member from the Membership of the Association.
