We are pleased to announce that Shri. Porus F. Kaka, eminent senior advocate and a member of the ITAT Bar Association, has been appointed President of the International Fiscal Association (IFA). He will take charge on the conclusion of the Copenhagen Congress in 2013 and will hold office till 2015, subject to further extension till 2017. Shri. Kaka will preside over the IFA Congress in Mumbai in 2014 and the Lucern Congress in 2015.
IFA was established in 1938 and has its headquarters in the Netherlands. It is the only non-governmental and non-sectoral international organisation dealing with fiscal matters. Its objects are the study and advancement of international and comparative law in regard to public finance, specifically international and comparative fiscal law and the financial and economic aspects of taxation.
IFA’s membership stands at nearly 12,000 from 103 countries.
IFA has a branch in India which is one of the largest Branches in IFA Worldwide. IFA India has several eminent professionals on its executive committee such as O.P. Vaish, Ajay Vohra, Sushil Lakhani, Tara Rao, T. P. Ostwal and several others. It conducts debates on contemporary issues such as the verdict of the Supreme Court in Vodafone International vs. UOI. Eminent Senior Advocate Shri. S. E. Dastur was the Chairman of IFA India in its formative years in 2000 and continues to play an important role.
We are confident that Shri. Porus Kaka will take IFA to new heights of glory and we wish him good luck in this endeavor.
